Win Wedding Photography and Planning Services!
I’m super excited to help spread the word about a giveaway from photographer Julie WIlliams and her planner friend Callandra Caufield from Cherry Tree Occasions.
First I want to say that Julie Williams is a Hindsight Bride recommended Mountain Vendor. Not only is her work amazing (check out the intimate backyard mountain wedding and Banff eco-chic wedding she shot), she’s also a DIY bride like us!
OK, on to the good stuff: (more…)

Hudson Valley Destination Wedding
Hudson Valley Weddings hold a very special place in my heart. The Catskills are tall, noble mountains that create a stunning backdrop for any wedding, while the flat, low Valley floor makes for easy weddings, especially for your older guests. There aren’t any high altitude concerns, and finding level ground for your tent, tables and chairs is easy. This wedding was held in the backyard of the groom’s parents’ home, with an expansive view of the Catskills, a large open yard, and a beautiful in-ground pool. It made for a wonderful setting for a backyard wedding.

Most destination mountain brides don’t realize how much stronger the sun is at altitude.
Make Sure Your Wedding Guests Don’t Fry!

Most destination mountain brides don’t realize how much stronger the sun is at altitude. Mountain summers tend to be mild, with temperatures ranging in the 70s and 80s. With such relatively cool weather, it’s difficult to feel the affects of the high altitude sun until it’s too late.
A simple way to ensure guests stay comfortable, and don’t get burned to a crisp — or worse, get sun poisoning — offer shade during your outdoor ceremony.

Nobody really talks about the fights or tears during wedding planning, do they? A handful of blogs, maybe, but most of the wedding related advice you get online has to do with checklists, timelines, and how to negotiate with vendors. Oh, and lets not forget all of the gorgeous pictures of happy brides and grooms celebrating a perfectly sweet wedding.
Not that there’s anything wrong with that. Other people’s gorgeous weddings inspire us and fill us up with ideas for our own wedding. But sometimes all of those ideas and information can stress us the eff out.

Hindsight Bride Podcast
Today we have Corey Parker from My WedDeal talking about his own $6000 wedding and how he and his (now) wife got creative to have an awesome wedding without sacrificing their dream of buying a house. Some of my favorite tips include:
- Buy a plain wedding gown and have a local tailor add custom embellishments.
- Use a free public venue like a park or beach.
- Save money on a band by booking a private room at restaurant that already has live music.
