Because Seriously, You Can't DIY Everything!
Have you heard of Wedzu? It's like Etsy only it's totally wedding focused. Wedzu is an international community of crafters and an awesome resource for DIY brides with handmade sensibilities who just can't DIY it all. If you're like me, you're good at one or two things, but not so skilled with other things. For example, I'm a fantastic baker, and I'm not bad with paper and fabric crafts, but I totally suck at jewelry making and can't sew to save my life.
No worries, have someone who knows what they're doing make your veil, or earrings, or invitations, or place cards. Check out some of my favorite winter wedding inspiration:

In French, ombre means shaded. In wedding speak, it's swoon worthy! You've of course seen ombre bridal gowns and bridesmaids dresses. But how fantastic is this ombre inspired centerpiece? {LOVE!}

A while back I did a post about non-floral centerpiece alternatives. With winter well on its way in the mountain south, and the trees bare and leafless, I am inspired again to post alternatives to floral centerpieces.
There are a number of things to love about the whole concept of eschewing flowers on your tables. Price comes immediately to mind. But so does the joy and satisfaction of designing a wedding that is completely different from what one's guests might expect to find. Maybe it's because I'm now in my thirties, but I think of a wedding as 1) an opportunity to explore the uniqueness of one's couple hood: who are we, what do we like, where do we come from, and where are we going? and 2) a fantastic occasion to throw a kick-ass party and be the ultimate hostess. I remember as a teenager my friends and I would joke about marrying each other just to throw a kick-ass party.Too shallow? Maybe. But we were kids. What did we know of love and marriage.

Not everyone is a cake person, and many venues and catering companies make delicious deserts that are more appealing to some than is cake. But cake is such a traditional symbol of a wedding.

I'm loving the whole family tree trend. We've all swooned over it, and I am the self-appointed president of the family tree fan club this week. But I nearly pooped right in my pants when I saw this Über modern take on the family tree trend.

OK, granted, modern isn't my schtick on the hindsight bride. I am the self-professed lover of rustic, natural, whimsical, mountain inspiration. But I do have a soft spot for modern, especially Danish furniture (no not IKEA, the real stuff darlinks.)
