Lisa + Josh: Simple Low Key Backyard Wedding

When I saw this wedding shot by the talented Scott McNamara, I had to share it with you. This simple, low key backyard wedding speaks volumes about what a wedding should be about: a couple in love, and family and friends celebrating that love. The decor and tablescape are both sweet and celebratory without being over-the-top. Now don't get me wrong! Not at all! I love love love over the top weddings with lots of details, both obvious and nuanced. But I'm the type of girl that gets easily carried away with the details. Sometimes I need to be reminded of the marriage part of the wedding, and the love part, and the community part. This wedding is a fresh reminder that weddings can be drool worthy and super sweet and still be intimate and relaxed.

School Days Inspiration: Go Learn Something!

I've been such a bad blogger these past couple of weeks. I have barely poked my head out long enough to say hello and comment on some of my favorite blogs and say hello to my favorite tweeters. Classes have started this week and I've been swamped with prep and work. Still, I have been lurking when I can.

Anyway, in honor of school starting, I wanted to remind you (as if you needed reminding) that there is sooooo much fantastic wedding planning information and inspiration on the web (duh). In fact did most of my own wedding planning online in the wee hours of the morning. I would wake up around 4 a.m. and make the rounds on my favorite blogs, noting ideas I liked and doing lots of bookmarking on delicious. So this week, in honor of the start of school, I encourage you to go out and learn something! Here are some of my favorite resources new and old.

WNC Photographers Making the Wedding Blogosphere Rounds

Honour Heirs Featured on The Sassy Bride

In 2008 and 2009, when I was planning my own wedding, I was hard pressed to find bloggers covering western North Carolina photographers and weddings. This was amazing to me, and not in a good way. One, western North Carolina is incredibly beautiful. Two, we have incredible talent among our wedding professional here. So I started my blog with the idea of "putting western North Carolina on the wedding world map."

I am thrilled that I am not alone in my endeavor. This month alone we saw Woodward + Rick on Junebug Weddings, Abigail Seymour on Grey Likes Weddings, and now I'm thrilled to announce Honour Heirs is on my friend Larissa's blog, The Sassy Bride. There are three simple words to descibe this wedding: Wow, wow, and wow! Here are a few of my favorites, but be sure to check out the full post over at The Sassy Bride.

Simple and Inexpensive Flower Trend: Baby’s Breath

Baby's breath has made a strong comeback, and instead of using it soley as filler, brides are creating sweet romantic bouquets with nothing but baby's breath. I personally love the combination of the rough texture of baby's breath and the tiny white flowers. It's at once a rugged and delicate looking bloom.

Recently I've been seeing these adorable hangers with the bottom wire spelling the brides name spelled out in cursive, and I love them. Thanks to Angela's comment on yesterday's real Lake Eden wedding, I found LilaFrances, the Etsy seller who makes them.
