For our wedding, I decorated the cake the morning of the wedding. For our first anniversary shoot, my priorities lay elsewhere, namely with hair and makeup. I had precious little time to futz around with piping buttercream around the seems of each tier before the shoot. Luckily, I found this fantastic video for using ribbon to camouflage seems.

Make it easy on yourself: Plan your content strategy before diving in
Todays post is the first of a two-part series on wedding wedsites. Next week we'll look at where to find free, and premium wedsites. But I wanted to start out with information you should put on your wedsite first.

Make Your Flowers Do Triple Duty

Image from Junebug Weddings
I saw this over on Junebug Weddings. Junebug loves a good idea, and so do I. In this case, I'm loving the fact that this design element do triple duty as an escort cart, as table decor, and as a guest favor. Guests pick up their vase and use it to find their table. They place the vase on the table, making a pretty (and interactive) tablescape. Then they get to tale the flowers and vase home as a favor. This also saves *you* from having deal with a ton of flowers and a million and one vintage vases at the end of the wedding.

Give your DIY projects the showcase they deserve

So you've been working and slaving over your fantastic DIY favors, escort cards, or dessert table. You're so excited, you've posted pictures to your wedding discussion boards, Flickr, and your blog. You've hired a fabulous photographer to capture every lush little detail. What more is there?
In a word: staging.

Still Lovin' the Whole Idea of a Quilt Guest Book

Image from Style Me Pretty
Oh happy, delightful day! Remember a few weeks back I posted on a Guest Book Quilt. Well guess what ladies. I found a real wedding that has done it! (I think)
Basically guests write their well wishes on a square of fabric and hang them to a line with a clothes pin. I especially like this idea because it appeals to my social media sensibilities. Guests can see each other's comments. Almost like a comment thread on a blog {grin}.
