I have been on a Ruffled blog kick lately. You remember my post about Making Your Mountain Wedding Great, where I reposted a whole bunch of images from a featured mountain wedding and wrote about the details that made it great? Well Amanda has done it again for me. She never fails at delivering some of the best wedding eye candy on the web while at the same time getting the wheels in my head going.

DI(Not)Y–Pocket Squares

What to Do When You Have Precious Little DIY Skills

I was hell bent on giving the Hindsight Groom a nice pocket square as a wedding gift. I had seen one on Once Wed, and immediately fell in love with it. She had embroidered a snippet from the poem, "The Owl and the Pussycat." I love every aspect of this idea. It's handmade, sentimental, heartfelt, and personal. Unfortunately, I have absolutely no sewing or embroidery skills, and I had no time to practice (I saw the tutorial 2 weeks before that wedding and I was already crazy with DIY projects.) I did not give my groom a pocket square. He wore a boutonniere.

In hindsight, I should have simply turned to Etsy. But this idea only came to me after seeing this fantastically awesome embroidered wedding keepsake on The Inspired Bride. DING DING DING!

I did it! DIY Flowers and Decor

DIY-ing a wedding is sorta like childbirth (I’m assuming.) It’s a lot of pain and hard work, but once you see the beautiful results of your labor, it seems all worth it. At least that’s how I felt after our May 2009 wedding.

Anniversary Photo Shoot Recap: Changing thoughts on Wedding DIY

Note: I do not have Anniversary pictures to post on the blog yet, but when I do…yipppeeeee!!!!!

Make Your Mountain Wedding Great

My Heart just Quickens When I See the Words "A DIY Mountain Wedding"

So when catching up on my blog reading I saw "A DIY Mountain Wedding" in my Google Reader, I clicked with with the utmost haste. This week Ruffled blog had featured a delightful "DIY Mountain Wedding" from Mt. Hood, Oregon.

Mountains are a special place, and Amanda nailed it when she said, "…with a jaw dropping gorgeous backdrop overlooking the mountains…you don’t need to worry too much about decorating." That's the absolute beauty of the mountains (pun delightfully intended.) You don't need much for a mountain wedding to be beautiful. Just a a bit here and there.

With this wedding, I find it's the smaller, mountain-inspired details that make it great. What I especially like is that this couple considers guest comfort, and uses decor elements that nod to local culture. Check it out:
