When looking for unique wedding ideas, start with you.
I am a big fan of weddings that are infused with elements unique to that couple. This DIY wedding epitomizes original, couple-centered design. I found it while surfing around on Flickr. The groom makes SO Scale disaster sculptures for a living. The couple decided to have the groom make a series of disaster sculptures to serve as table numbers. In addition to "sinkhole" (pictured below,) other unique table number center pieces included, tidal wave, mountain lion, and wildfire. Although "Disaster" table numbers might be creepy or off color for some of us, they work perfectly for this couple.

An Interview with Jodi Rhoden of Short Street Cakes, Asheville, NC
I mentioned in a previous post that I had the recent pleasure to chat with Jodi Rhoden of Short Street Cakes. As promised, here is the first of three in a series of interviews with her. Jodi discusses what got her into cake baking, her ingredients philosophy for using local, organic ingredients whenever possible, and what couples can expect at a cake tasting with Jodi. Enjoy!
P.S. Jodi is going on the road to research her new book about Southern Cake Ladies (How fantastic is that?!). If you know any Southern Cake Ladies, contact Jodi. See below for details.

It's All about the Fonts Baby!
Are you doing DIYing your wedding invitations and paper elements? Do you agree that default scripty fonts that come stock with Word are, well, boooooooooring. I mean, there are certain fonts I've seen so many times that, when I see them, I say, "oh, there's the Papyrus font," or "oh, Brush Script." But hey, what are you going to do if your resources are limited? You are going to check out DaFont.com for free fonts.
Hindsight Groom and I designed the invitations and paper elements for both weddings. Luckily we found DaFont.com Here is a picture of our California ski wedding invitation using Chocolate Box font.

With Movable Gears…
I first saw this "rad ring" at A Mountain Bride's blog. She has graciously let me re-post here. If you you have not yet checked out A Mountain Bride, you're missing out.
The Hindsight Groom and I wear classic yellow gold bands passed down from out families. But if we were to do something more contemporary, this would be a top contender for a wedding band. And the sub $200, makes it a practical choice for folks on a budget.
