Mad photography and videography talent in WNC

Watching this video makes me want to weep it’s so darned beautiful. As an aside, the hindsight groom notes that everything makes me want to weep– sad movies, happy movies, songs about loss, songs about overcoming loss, sappy commercials about triumph, heart-wrenching commercials about hunger or animal cruelty, the unabashed joy of the Numa Numa guy on YouTube …need I say more?

So, part of my emotional response is due to the song, which was written for Ellen and Portia’s wedding a year or so ago (the song starts at about 1:30). But a big part of it is the beautiful photography, videography and editing. If I could choose what my perfect wedding video would look like, this would be it!

I ran into Two Rings Studios’ amaaaaazing work with Meg + Justin’s Asheville Wedding on Vimeo a couple of months ago. It is a perfectly lovely summer wedding that captures the charm of rural life in the southern Mountains.

While I left a comment when I first saw the video, I ended up totally forgetting about it. Truth be told: I get so emotional when it comes to wedding video and images. In the 6 crazy months I spend planning my two weddings, I didn’t take the time to fully research my options for professional photography on a budget. I ended up hiring a student photographer. What a disaster that ended up being! On the one hand my wedding was perfect, and if I had to choose great pictures or a great wedding, I would opt for the latter. BUT the two are not mutually exclusive. Not at all.

My advice to you ladies: you only get one shot at this. Hire a professional photographer and videographer for goodness sake!

Anyhoo, I saw the video it again after a random search for “Asheville wedding” in Vimeo. Two Rings Studios graciously replied to my comment granting me permission to share it on my blog. Oh yes, thank you!

What a lovely reminder that, even though western North Carolina is a rural area, we have such incredible talent among our wedding professionals. The whole thing is eye candy. Enjoy!

“My advice to you ladies: you only get one shot at this. Hire a professional photographer and videographer for goodness sake!” <—–Truer words were never spoken!!

It was a pleasure catching up with you on the phone last night! I've got my hamster wheel turning for our meet-up plans:)

I too look forward to meeting up soon.

By the bye, I was struck by your comment on the phone last night that when you got home from your honeymoon and saw the photos of your wedding you cried because they were so wonderful and beautiful. I cried because–having skimped on photography–mine were a collection of blown out snapshots.

Thanks for commenting Amber V.

Wow, thanks for the write-up and raving about us. We truly appreciate it!

Hey Two Rings Studios, it’s not me, it’s you! Everyone I show this video to loves it.

Wonderful! I’m very jealous of those photos, I wish I could do as well. Those pictures took a lot of ability to produce, well done. I’ve bookmarked this site.

What a beautiful film. Love it!

This is one of my favorite songs, that I totally forgot about! They play it in Catch & Release, which is movie I relate to far too much because it’s basically my story. I love this song. This film is beautiful. I love it.

BTW… checking out for that ad was the EASIEST. THING. EVER. I love your process! <3
