I love home made food favors. I think the act of making a gift is an intimate and loving gesture from a bride to her guests. Here in the South, cheese straws are a popular, if somewhat old-fashioned, party snack. In November of 2009, Oprah published this new twist on a Southern party favorite. Two or three, wrapped in tissue paper with ribbon on each side and a monogram in the center, these cheese straws would make a delightful favor, especially for a DIY southern bride.

Loving all DIY wedding things, and being especially fond of DIY paper crafts, I thought I would share this fabulous video on how to make super cute and super easy DIY save the dates. Of note, having done DIY invitations, I would recommend investing in a paper cutter. You can pick one up for around 10 bucks as your local craft store. In a pinch, a metal ruler and an Exacto (c) knife will do. Whatever you do, don't use scissors. It is impossible to get the edges perfectly straight with scissors! If you have to, take them to a local printer to be cut.
